Does cauterization by electricity take the same ruling as cauterization by fire for one who hopes to be among the seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment?

It is mentioned in the Hadith that those who enter Paradise without reckoning are those who do not seek ruqyah (incantation/exorcism), nor believe in bad omens (tatayyur), nor cauterize (yaktun), and upon their Lord they rely. This indicates that seeking ruqyah and cauterization contradicts tawakkul (reliance on Allah). The cauterization that contradicts tawakkul is that which is done to prevent illness before its occurrence. As for treating with it after illness, it does not contradict tawakkul, but it is disliked unless there is a need. The Prophet, peace be upon him, was cauterized, and he mentioned that healing is in cauterization.

Scholars have elaborated on this. The Prophet's action, peace be upon him, indicates its permissibility. His dislike for it does not indicate prohibition, and praising those who abandon it indicates that abandoning it is preferable. The prohibition of it is either by choice or due to dislike.

Cauterization is of two types: First: Cauterizing a healthy person for fear of illness. This is what the Prophet, peace be upon him, invalidated and considered to contradict tawakkul. Second: Cauterizing a wound or a diseased organ. This is the cauterization in which there is healing and it does not contradict tawakkul.

Cauterization with electricity is like cauterization with fire; it is disliked except out of necessity. And whoever cauterizes himself before illness has resembled the people of pre-Islamic ignorance (Jahiliyyah) and contradicted tawakkul.
