Do the thoughts of seeing men that come to mind indicate an inner evil that necessitates repentance, or are they whispers from Satan? Was informing one's husband of this a mistake? And how can such thoughts be prevented?

A Muslim must repel evil thoughts and wicked whispers when they present themselves to his heart, for they do not indicate a flaw in the soul of their owner. It is recommended for him to seek refuge from them. Informing one's spouse about sexual thoughts is wrong and leads to corruption. It is forbidden to speak about disliked dreams that come from Satan, as stated in the Sunnah. In a Hadith: "A good vision is from Allah. If one of you sees what he loves, he should not tell it except to one whom he loves. And if he sees what he dislikes, he should seek refuge with Allah from its evil and from the evil of Satan, and spit three times, and not tell anyone about it, for it will not harm him." In another Hadith: "Do not tell people about Satan's playing with you in your sleep." The prohibition of speaking about disliked dreams can be used to infer the prohibition of speaking about wicked thoughts in wakefulness, for both are from Satan. Therefore, a Muslim must repel these thoughts, seek refuge from them, not speak about them, and not let them lead him to sadness or self-blame.
