Is it permissible to undergo LASIK eye surgery to avoid the recurring cost of glasses and for cosmetic and athletic reasons, or is it considered altering Allah's creation?

Cosmetic surgeries are of two types: The first type is that which is performed to remove a defect, an impairment, or a disfigurement, whether it is accidental or congenital. This type is permissible, based on what Al-Tirmidhi narrated, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted Arfajah ibn Sa’d to have a nose made of gold.

The second type is that which is not intended to remove a defect but rather to increase beauty. This type is not permissible.

Accordingly, there is no religious impediment to an eye deviation correction surgery, provided there are no other prohibitive factors.
