Is it permissible to divorce one's wife if she is found to possess qualities that contravene the expected specifications after marriage?
The majority of jurists hold that the defects warranting annulment are those that make intercourse impossible, or repulsive or contagious diseases. If one of the spouses accepts the defect or shows signs of acceptance, their right to annulment is forfeited. Ibn Qudamah said: "The option of annulment due to a defect is established on a delayed basis; it does not lapse unless there is an act indicating acceptance, such as a statement, or enjoyment by the husband, or enabling by the wife." Based on this, you do not have the right to annul the marriage. If you dislike your wife, you may divorce her while giving her the rights of a divorced woman. It is advised to re-examine yourself and consider the good aspects of your wife, perhaps Allah will place much good in her, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.﴾ [An-Nisa: 19]. And as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he would be pleased with another."
