A father is obligated to spend on his needy children and to look after their religious and worldly interests. His abandonment of them without excuse is a grave transgression. Part of kindness is giving him money if it does not harm the child and if he will not use it for disobedience, and striving to reform and guide him through supplication and advice. As for his embracing or suspicious gazing, that is a grave evil that necessitates treating him as a stranger. His cursing the mother is also an evil.
