What is the authenticity of the mentioned hadiths that describe women as being the majority of the inhabitants of Hellfire or the transgressors, and explain that by attributing to them characteristics such as lack of gratitude and patience and ingratitude towards their husbands? And are these characteristics exclusive to women, to the exclusion of men? And are these sins greater than men’s sins such as wars, killing, and injustice?

First: The hadith "The immoral are the people of Hellfire," which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, interpreted as referring to women because when they are given, they do not show gratitude, and when they are afflicted, they do not show patience, does not condemn women in general. Rather, it is a warning against this act which is prevalent among them. Thus, any man who shares this characteristic with them is also included in the warning. The grateful and patient woman is not included in this blame; rather, she falls within the Prophet’s promise of Paradise.

Second: The hadith "Most of the inhabitants of Hellfire are women," and the reason for this is their frequent cursing and ingratitude towards their husbands. The reason for this reverts to the predominance of desires and inclination towards the adornments of worldly life, and the deficiency in intellect which weakens them from performing deeds for the afterlife.

Third: There is no connection between the mentioned characteristics of women and the people of Hellfire, and the crimes of men such as murder and injustice. The mentioned hadiths are specific to warning against certain actions, and these are unseen matters based on submission to the sacred text.
