Is all of Makkah a sacred precinct, and is prayer in it equal to one hundred thousand prayers, and are there any proofs for that?

The entirety of Makkah Al-Mukarramah is a sacred precinct (haram), and its boundaries are well-known. The "haram" is what is referred to in the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Indeed, Allah made Makkah sacred. It was not made lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me. It was only made lawful for me for an hour during the day. Its fresh grass is not to be cut, its trees are not to be felled, its game is not to be disturbed, and its fallen items are not to be picked up except by someone who intends to announce them." Scholars differed on whether the reward of one hundred thousand prayers in Makkah applies to the whole of Makkah or is specific to the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) only. Some confined it to the Sacred Mosque, citing the hadith: "Prayer in the Sacred Mosque is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers." Others held that the multiplication of reward applies to the entire Haram, citing that the Isra' (Night Journey) began from the house of Umm Hani', not from the Mosque itself, and quoting Ata's statement: "No, rather in the Haram, for the entire Haram is a mosque."
