Is seeking the interpretation of dreams permissible and desirable, and if so, what is the interpretation of seeing tongues of silver fire extending through the city streets, from which the dreamer and his family flee, while one of his female relatives is unable to escape and be saved, and it was said that its source is a volcano but its shape does not resemble a volcano?

It is permissible to ask someone who is knowledgeable in dream interpretation, as it has been established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to ask his Companions about their dreams in order to interpret them for them. Nevertheless, one should not excessively seek dream interpretations. Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen clarified that if a person sees something he dislikes, he should seek refuge with Allah from Satan and the evil of what he has seen, spit to his left three times, not tell anyone about it, change his side, and pray. However, if he sees something he likes, there is no harm in telling those he loves, and he should not tell those he does not love.
