What is the authenticity of what is narrated about a man named Rajjal bin 'Unfuwa, and what is his story and his end, and what should our stance be concerning him, and is what is narrated about him not authentic?

The man, Rajjal bin Unfuwah, was known for accompanying Musaylimah the Liar and his delegations to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and for memorizing some of the Qur’an. However, he later apostatized, supporting Musaylimah in his claim to prophethood, until he was killed alongside him in the Ridda (apostasy) wars. His story was narrated by Ibn Sad and Al-Tabari, but the chains of transmission for these narrations are weak due to the presence of weak narrators such as Al-Waqidi and Sayf ibn Umar Al-Tamimi. Despite the weakness of the chains, the matter of Rajjal bin Unfuwah is well-known. Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned him, and Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar indicated his apostasy and death upon disbelief. Furthermore, weak prophetic hadiths have been reported, indicating that one of the group sitting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, among whom was Rajjal bin Unfuwah, would be among the people of Hellfire.
