I was poor and used to supplicate to Allah to remove my poverty. In my supplication, I would say that poverty is a humiliation I dislike, except for Allah's sake, and that a calamity befalling myself or my child would be easier to bear than poverty. Years later, Allah blessed me with wealth and a job, and I got married and had children. I then became afraid that Allah might test me through myself or my family, so I thought of sacrificing an animal as a ransom for my son and myself. I am asking about the ruling on this and how the sacrificed meat should be distributed. If it is not permissible, what is the best action to preserve wealth, oneself, and one's family?
