Is it permissible for you to proofread a translated copy of the Holy Quran from Chinese to Arabic, for a financial fee, for the purpose of printing and selling it outside of China?

It is permissible to take a fee for proofreading and reviewing the Qur'an, or its exegesis (tafsir), and its translation into other languages. However, it is not permissible for unqualified individuals to undertake the translation.

There is no point in translating the meanings of the Qur'an from Chinese into Arabic, as a reader of Arabic does not need this, and the Qur'an is in Arabic لفظ (wording), and books of tafsir are readily available. This could also lead to distortion of the meaning. We see no benefit in translating the meanings of the Qur'an from another language into Arabic, especially if the translator is not a Muslim, out of fear of distortion. If you become aware of their ill intentions, you must strive to prevent them.
