The answer

First: The husband should reinforce the good qualities in his wife and should not dislike her for a bad quality if she possesses good qualities, in accordance with the hadith: "No believing man should hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."

Second: Each spouse must know and fulfill the rights of the other. If the wife transgresses with offensive language, she is disobedient (nashiz), and the treatment for her disobedience begins with admonition. Abandonment is not the first solution, especially if the wife is stubborn.

Third: The wife should apologize for her shortcomings, but if her situation improves and she does not apologize, it is better for the husband not to pay attention to her apology and to atone for his oath, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "By Allah, if Allah wills, I do not take an oath and then see something better than it, except that I atone for my oath and do that which is better."

Fourth: If the wife is working and taking care of the children while the husband is far away, an excuse must be found for her not fulfilling his requests. It is better for him to seek an alternative for seeing them through communication means. It is not her right to confront him with anger, and she must know his status and obey him in what is good, and she should be advised to guard against anger.

Fifth: There is no harm in thinking about the future and planning for it, as Al-Bukhari narrated from Omar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to store his family's provisions for a year. However, this should not be a cause for dispute and annoyance to the husband. Lying is permissible, with its restrictions, to maintain marital harmony. It is better for the husband to reside where his wife resides and not to be absent from her for more than six months without her consent.
